MK Indy zx10r TURBO video @ wood bridge

Hi all

done our 1st track day since the turbo conversion on the indy @woodbridge after a wet morning it dried out nicely so we had a little fun,

here is some video of my brother chasing a starlet gt turbo this was a seriously quick car running 300bhp + nothing past it all day except us,

i will have some more later once edited but this will do for now

the car was great only just getting used to it most of the day you couldnt get full throttle for spinning the wheels so just feather the throttle in,

loved it and cant wait for the next day out,

cheers
sean

yep the starlet was rapid,

well over 300bhp, he was killing everything on the day,

our car was great nothing could get past you unless you let it by, super quick car and well pleased.

Probably because you didn't have someone else mess around with the fabrication work before it went on the car.....

Took it out for the first run a few days ago & it was absoloutely nuts! I havent programmed the boost controller yet & had a 10psi spring in the wastegate, It was just loosing traction in every gear when it came on boost, but what a rush
I have now changed the spring for a lower psi one until I programme the controller to map the boost, but the weather has been rubbish so not had a chance to get it out again.

Could you expand on that please Steve? It's a bit too cryptic for me...

Thanks for posting this, it's one of those videos that reignites the enthusiasm for getting it done before next summer.

Damn very quick install you have there. I just sold my Supercharged engine to look for another project too.

Now I'm even more tempted by a bike install but worse I'm hankering after a Starlet turbo as well now as I've always had either Toyota's or Toyota engines in my cars!

Hi yes

do a turbo install you will love it,

biggest prob for me now is getting the track time in to be able to drive the car as it should.

you get every where so much quicker and you have to think so much faster,

F1 drivers i have much respect for as this is a handle on its own,

biggest thing is get comfortable with the car and used to the accerleration to give me more thinking time,

but still may look to sell it for a new project watch this space,

maximill666 you prob wont need much more than 8 psi with prob top end @ 10psi believe me, you should be in the 250-300byp mark on the r1,

with the squirt of nos you have all i will say is hang on and good luck get those spare pants ready

cheers

will get some vid up late camera from rear

no not all the zx10r has very little difference between 5th and 6th gear,

even with a 314 diff, 5-6 th only around 8 mph diff not alot,

also it revs up so much quicker through the gears with the turbo you hit over a ton before you know it thats why you have to snatch gears so quck

we also had the shift light set at 11000 rpm, red line is at 13000 but we are running in the engine still so dont want to cane it to much ,

glad you like the video,

thanks
sean
