Track Prep Ideas/Advice?
Hi, I am just about happy that the car is at a good base point from the SVA last year so now I am looking into track prep. Id be interested in any
opinions of what to get done before i attempt the track. Here is my list so far;
1) check geometry
2) service items with new halfords 5.1 fluid
3) rolling road session to check powercommander/engine performance
4) drop wilwood smart pads for mintex 1144 and bed in
5) addition of a second diaphragm clutch spring as i have noticed minor amount of slip
6) check major nuts and bolts are tight and marked for reference.
So anything i am missing out? also i am going to try the 5.1 fluid first as its cheap and should be more than enough for my first outing or is this
brand really not recommended?
Cheers
Adam

Fan override switch for cooling system.
A temp warning light.
An oil cooler.
Cooling is so inportant, my rad switch went taking out the engine.

Edit : personally i think yellow stuff pads are best, higher temp than mintex and almost no difference from cold braking to hot braking.

Thanks for comments so far and please keep them coming. Fan has std overide and a bypass switch although its not in an easily accessible location so
im moving it to the tunnel. I dont have oil temp just pressure gauge but will an oil cooler be necessary R1 has a inbuilt cooler and i imagine we will
be doing 10-15min sessions and taking the first few events relatively easy.
Interesting about the yellow stuff pads - what car is this on and il check availability/price of them for our wilwood calipers. will stock rear
disc/pads be ok?
It will also be driven to the track as my car - leon cupra r supposedly cant tow(manual suggests so) and my dad doesnt want to have to get a towing
hook plus if we went brands its 10-15miles away and we will take one of the above cars for supplies etc.
Hopefully the R888s will have plenty of grip as they are relatively new but i will keep an eye on them.

I'd go for the Barnett clutch conversion - works well in mine. ( not their plates though, stick with OEM )
