I've got the same engine and had a similar problem (although mine would go to 3 cylinders randomly, even when driving!) It was due to a faulty
injector plug and was cured with a good squirt of contact cleaner. You just need to remove the connectors and check the condition of the contacts.

Diesels in the current UK weather need tip top glowplugs & batteries.
If the injectors have never been serviced and are dirty then all this accumulates into running like a bag of hammers when its cold.
If the injector spray pattern is crap (dirty) when you first start up in the cold the exhasut (if it starts) should be white smoke ie unburnt fuel,
that is normal.
If its black thats excess fuel so the metering/injection is possibly adrift.
Pull the glowplugs and give them a clean up, and maybe give it a dose of diesel injector cleaner.
Fit a cut to size cardboard box round your battery to insulate it, the initial early morning cranking is tough on batteries/diesels.
If you have an intermittent misfire that sounds like an injector service is required.
Good luck

Certainly sounds like a glow plug problem.

I had same car. One of the glowplugs snapped on the way out. be careful.
They are also prone to injector leakoff pipes perishing and drawing air in when the engine is off causing long crankingtimes from cold start.
