Wishbones
How much would you expect to pay for a set of front wishbones made to take 1/2" rod ends instead of poly bushes.

Yes I had a feeling that they might have quoted you that much.

Have you got the Luego originals?
If yes then why not convert them? (assuming that you have welding equipment)
I needed a pair of new wishbones recentky and made a patten of the originals and knocked them together very quickly. If you have the originals then
surely it is just a case of cutting off the tubes for the polybushed and welding a small section of bar with the relevant threaded hole in it?

This is what I assumed Luego would do to a new set and charge a reasonable amount for modification.
However they want to charge me £600 for a set NOT including the rod ends

Well I am not surprised that they want to charge for the work on a one off basis but I agree that it is a heck of a lot of money to pay. You could
spend £300 on a reasonable mig welder and do it yourself. Lolocost sell a some threaded tube so check them for the availability of the right type.
If not you could buy a tap set for a few quid and you've got all you need for much less than £600. If you've already got a mig then
really it is a no brainer. If you want any hints on making a jig for the wishbones then say so and I'd be delighted to outline what I did; I
saw the original Luego jig when I collected my kit, it's a simple piece of kit.
Good luck
Steve

Judging by this ebay add ( item no. 200435504448 ) i would say £600 from Luego is a bargain mate, this guy wants £1499 !!
Im speechless........apologies if its someone on here selling on ebay but i paid about £1700 for my whole chassis/body set.
They mut be exceptional quality..

You have the std arms, make a jig, then re-do the ends so the eyes fit the jig.
Iwould have thought it not too difficult.
£600 is a bit much, especially as Luego could then market it as an optional extra.
Still I am sure there is a reason why they want so much.

I first inquired in December and was told that as a one off they would be expensive but if I waited a couple of months the price would be a lot
cheaper because they were already looking at doing them anyway. They have had a number of customers asking.
Unfortunately I cant weld but I know plenty who can
Rather than modify my existing bones I might buy a standard set and modify those.
Anyone know how much a standard set will set me back?

Lolocost sell threaded bar for the top wishbone trackrod end to fit in. They also sell the tube used for the lower wishbones (ironically this is
usually sold in short lenghts for people making wishbones to use as the tubes that the bushes go into). They will also sell the bent strip for the
lower shock to fit in, get 4 of these (1 for each lower wishbione and 2 for the jig). The lot delivered will cost less than £30. B&Q sell the
tube for the top wishbone, again for peanuts. This only leaves the plate for the lower ball joint at the end of the bottom wishbone and the threaded
bar for the new joints to source , but that can't be impossible. Then you need to take off your original wishbones, strip them down and make a
template from them. You only need do one side at this stage. This is fiddley and time consuming but pretty simple to do. You will need to consider
the changes but once you have the basic structure in place it is a piece of cake.
Why not by a mig and learn to weld yourself, it is pretty easy. If you know a welder then they can give you some tips.
You buy a second hand mig and the bits and get the whole thing done for £250?

Hi
Does anyone know what the bush centers are on the luego's. Are they all the same as the original book chassis luego's. ?
Cheers Matt
