neutral switch for starter
Having a bit of trouble here. I tried to mount a switch on the clutch pedal, so that when depressed, the starter will operate. When not engaged, no
start. Well, I've tried three switches, with no success. I think I have the wiring part down, but the switch itself is either not working at
all, or moving too much to operate properly. I am at wits end (again).
Question: is there a way to wire a switch while the car is in neutral? I have a Nissan CA18DET and a matching Nissan 5 speed.

Can't help with your question, but why do you want it to work like this?

I remember hiring a little Toyota Yaris in Australia that worked like this, where the starter would only operate if the clutch was depressed and the
key turned.
I would mount a push-to-make microswitch against the clutch lever on the gearbox and connect the microswitch via a relay to the starter solenoid
cable.

requirement. I agree it is BS, but can't argue with that sort of thing.

Both our 2008 Toyota Auris and our 2009 Audi A5 have this system and I think it's a very good idea. Stops silly school run mums running some
poor kid over cranking it in gear...

If you use a brake light switch it will operate as soon as the pedal is moved.
If a modern brake switch dosen't suit your pedal arangement use the pull switch type sold for classic cars or motor cycles as below

In an effort to keep my public informed, the 4th switch WORKS like a charm! I needed a good old US made switch, and not some cheap made-by-a-child
Asian junk. I hate to give credit to the Americans as much as the next guy, but since we beat them (barely admittedly) at our game of hockey recently,
I have to hand it to them on this. Ironically, the American made switch was the cheapest. If they advertised this sort of thing more, their country
wouldn't be in the economic quagmire it is.

my car is at the garage as we speak. Of course, my speedo didn't register when I drove it around before driving onto the flatbed for the trip
in. Everything else should work. It's in Allah's hands...
