Quickshift
Hi,
picked up a quickshift off here a couple of months ago and fitted it immediately. It gives a lovely, positive feel to the stick and I was looking
forward to getting back on the road.
To cut a long story, I have discovered that I no longer have to depress the gearstick to select reverse - it just goes straight in like it used to do
for 1st gear (makes 1st quite difficult to find).
I will be taking apart to re-adjust (if I can find the instructions!), but was wondering if this would be an MOT fail?
Cheers
Ray

Shouldn't be, a few of the old porsche's had reverse where first would normally be without any kind of press-in or lift-up safety gubbins.
A bird in the hand....

We've got a Peugeot 308, there's no gate on that either
It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......

Quick shifts usually have a spacer to lift the plate up by the amount the lever has been extended below the pivot point usually 5 mm. If you
don't have a spacer 3 nuts between gearbox and lever with longer lever locating bolts will lift it up.
Not having the spacer and bolting down the lever will effectively push the lever down as you would do to engage reverse all the time thus defeating
the lockout
