Tintop problems again
Hi all,
Ongoing problems since swapping my lads Corsa engine. Sounds like a diesel and has a metallic ringing noise. I thought the diesel drumming sound
might be the cam belt upper and lower covers vibrating but not the case.
Have a listen, any thoughts really would be greatly appreciated.

Really hard to tell from the video but doesn't sound good to me, I've heard of the crank pulley delaminating before but could be lots of
things....anywere in particular the noise is coming from?
I'd also avoid running it if possible.

The drumming diesel noise is coming from the cambelt area, the ringing sounds like gearbox side. I agree doesn't sound good but I don't
want to give up on it just yet.

Certainly don't give up on it but try not to run it until you've sorted it, could be something easily fixed now but if you keep running it
might nuke the engine! Good luck finding it.

As said, difficult to say from the video
Remove the cam belt cover and have another listen
Sometimes the sound can 'resonate' within the cover making it difficult to diagnose
I also bought a Stephescope off the bay of E and its paid for itself several times over already (cost about a fiver) it makes things alot easier to
diagnose
What is the spec' of the engine and what has been done to it ?
