Great concept.
I like the "use everything" approach from the donor.
I don't see why not.
Much as I love cars very obviously inspired by the Lotus Seven, thank **** this isn't another one.
I say go for it.
(Even if the nosecone looks like it was nicked off one of Owell'ys Magenta.)
So what ?
The seven concept was once seen as non conformist, it's now completely conformist, and this isn't.

There is a thread running on Piston Heads about the MEV Exocet, in which the manufacturers are saying that no IVA is required as it uses full chassis
and sub frames from the MX5
I quote "It could be possible to run it on the donor registration and avoid IVA claiming that it is a body conversion on an un modified
chassis" not sure how this would work or if I would risk it

Hummmm
I thought it looked very modern a bit of a cross between the Exo look and a bodied roadster, with an aggressive nose.
Suppose looks and styling is very much down to personnel taste.
But I just love the simplicity, ease of build and locost of the design.

For me and only imo if I absoltuely had to choose a car from the MEV range then it'd be the Rocket but it looks to be lacking in triangulation.
I personally don't like any other of their vehicles. They all resemble some kind of Atom meets shark and it doesn't work for me.
But as has been said if you like it, you go for it.

i didn't realise it was using the mx5 chassis (according to the PH thread), but then again this is on their own website wich tells me it's
not using the mx5 chassis.

Have also been thinking about an MNR Vortx, but the easy build and price of the Exocet is difficult to ignore.

I don't see how it can be argued that the MX5 has a chassis. The front subframe is connected to the diff by a brace, but without the bodyshell
it would not have enough rigidity to be accepted as a 'chassis'
The Exocet chassis is definately needed to hold things together.

Totally different cars....
Exocet build costs look very good, but, there is an assumption that you will get a fair bit back on the unwanted doner parts.
There are quite a few being stripped now so prices for wings doors etc are going to reduce. How many people will want to buy a fuel cap release lever
??
The VortX is still a fairly simple build, but is not going to be a bargain basement job !

You'll have no problem selling MX5 bits and pieces !! I bought my donor for £1100 - according to the costs spreadsheet SWMBO will never see,
I've already sold £931.22 worth !!!
All I've really sold is interior, panels, chrome bits and stereo.
If you get a Eunos then the MX5 enthusiasts go mad for the JDM parts !! Granted mine had nice seats, a few trick bits like strut braces etc but even
so compared to my BMW donor parts, the MX5 stuff has literally flown out the garage. As soon as people get wind you are breaking you can practically
wait for people asking for parts.
I still have my exhaust, coilovers and a few electrics to go. At this rate I'm going to get a free donor pack.

It looks like something that a north sea fisherman threw back.
I cannot see anyone being able to convince a traffic cop that the MX5 chassis has no been 'radically modified'. They know the shots and
all the regs so I think that the non IVA thing is a non starter.
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

the front end is rather ugly. Also, the roll bar is clearly form over function, which ive never appreciated, and that doesnt inspire confidence in the
rest of the car.
However, the pointier nose on other models does look muhc better.
Beware! Bourettes is binfectious.

I seem to like it for some reason.
Can see it as a super idea as the mx5 is know to handle well but was underpower but with this you loose a third of the weight and the price is very
attractive could be a ideal as a trackday car.
I am sure that you could get good money for the unused mx5 bits.
