Haynes Roadster Scratch Build
Hi Guys
I have been on with this project since April this year. Finally got round to starting a blog.
Although the project has been going for 5 months it hasn't really got very far but hoping that over the coming winter i will make some good
progress.

As you can see in the photo I was intending to use a 1300 Crossflow with the 4 speed box. I managed to get both the box and engine for £30.00 although
the engine wouldn't turn.
I decided to strip the engine and found thisSee Image)
So now i have decided to go for a 2.0L Zetec

Striping the engine was my last option after trying all sorts of oil down the ports to try and free it. Once i got the head off i realized that it was
going to cost a fortune to get the engine to a usable state. And would most likely be cheaper to buy a good zetec.

location?
I may have a good 1300 up for grabs. (needs a new spitgot bearing fitted though - I have the part).
(actually, I have a complete 1800 zetec as well as a 2.0 pre'95 zetec block + bits)

Talked myself out of Crossflow after i realized that its no more expensive for me to insure a 2.0L so might as well go for more power.
As long as its fast.... i don't care

Im hoping to get the front suspension brackets fitted tomorrow and then the last few bits of box section at the rear.
This might be a stupid question but im not familiar with modern engines.....
Im planning to use twin weber carbs on my zetec........ do i still need an ecu?
if so, am i better to get an aftermarket ecu or not?

After doing some research i've learned that R1 carb's are the easiest setup on a zetec.
can anyone tell if there is any particular age R1 i should be looking for or just any?

Quick update
Managed to make a jig for the front brackets today and got them fix on.
Hope to get started with finishing the rear end of the chassis tomorrow.

chassis problem
was working on the chassis last night a found that one of the rails which run across the chassis where the scuttle goes is not square.
Can anyone tell if this is a big problem or not as i am unsure as to weather this will cause problems later in the build.
