Torque settings:

Hi - I am planning on doing some final assembly work this week on a number of things including: rear axel, rear wishbones, front wishbones, engine mounts, gearbox mounts, bellhousing. As the build manual I am working from is vague to say the least, I was wondering if there is a general resource for torque settings for the various components. Also, would people recommend locknuts, loctite, or spring washers to secure things, or perhaps even all of them together to be sure!?

Not got a torque wrench as yet so I suppose I should also think about what one I would need. Any thoughts?

haynes manual have a good list of torque settings for the transmission assembly.

got my torque wrench from aldi when the had the offer, its worth checking out ur local store if they still have one, failing that machine mart do decent ones

Haynes manual for original vehicle for torque settings and nylocks. Some people do initial assemble with normal nuts as nylocks are single use (in theory) as the nylon locking bit wears and although we all think we will do it once there is invariably some messing around with these things.

Most suspension stuff is M10 and above and you will struggle to damage the thread unless you put a big bar on it, so damned tight generally does it.

Most of the cheap torque wrenches are way out anyway.
The expensive ones have a Nation Physical Laboratory calibation certificate. That's why they are expensive.
Most mechanics I know use matt_gsxr's technique.

Get a torque wrench. Mine is a 42-210 Nm range and cost around 30€.

Then use general torque settings like THESE
