What to do on a car sitting in garage for 15 months

I might be able to get my hands on a volvo xc70 2.4 diesel 2006 - but it has been sitting in a garage for the last 15 months at least.

I know the battery is most certainly dead, but what else would people advise it checked, replaced etc.

Obviously is SORN, so needs a MOT, but do not want it to get there an fail on several things.

Does anyone have one of these cars, and advise if its worth my trouble

tires, suspension, battery.

My BMW was sat for nearly 5 years and other than repairs that were needed when it was laid up were one suspension spring, and brake lines changing as they had rusted.

The XC70 is marvelous car, I would say takes a battery, eazi start and WD40 for fuses etc, just in case. It's a Volvo it wont fail except bulbs, wiper blades etc. Run engine upto temp to clear crap out of cat.

Use eazi start if you want to put a new engine in it. It's the worst thing you could use on an engine.

Check brake cylinders and handbrake aren't siezed. Check tyres for going out of shape. Discs will probably be quite rusty/noisy at first but should clear up with use. Worth changing oil/filter and cambelt just to be safe.

Replace brake fluid and flush cooling system. Reset clock

I'm addicted to brake fluid, but I can stop anytime.

I still reckon that's urban myth. Most cars that require Easystart are knackered so not surprisingly they don't suddenly start getting younger due to the use of Easystart. Doesn't mean they're addicted, just that they needed it to start in the first place and nothing's changed.
Or that's what I was advised by my local engine tuning dude who used to build Nascar engines and designed a very funky non-Otto 4 stroke engine.
