PASSED
Had my IVA retest this morning at Micham.
I passed after 20 minute walk around. Was meant to be tested at 11, sat waiting and then went in at half 10 to pay ready for the test and was then
waiting at 11 for the certificate.
I am happy, but it still not dawned on my as yet that once i have it painted i can drive it (well after its registered)

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Well done that man!
I just hope I am smiling before too much longer. I often wondered if people had put their cars in before painting. I intend to paint before IVA, but
that's just because I think that if it's presented well there is a better chance of a positive test result because it looks more like
effort has gone into the build.
I know that the test should be the same result whether or not it looks good on the outside, but I'm sure appearance does make a difference at
most centres.
It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......

Yes I had read the posts about having it painted before test, but had always had the idea in my head of paint after test incase there are any mods
required or brackets changed etc.
I was right. I had to remake steering rack mounts, to add bracing and so that it was secured with nuts and bolts to the mounts.
Also additional welding onto both lower outer seat belt mounts and weld roll bar to chassis (was held by 8 nuts and bolts - now has both)
Other then that it was a case of remaking dash, adding padded spare wheel cover and changing exhaust clamps and radius on tail pipe.
I did not have a screen on for test, but was fitted during the build so now just got to refit, adapt wipers (doing that at the moment) and fitting
washers.
Then yes will be stripped to a chassis and painted. Paint is now ordered for the chassis.
Add to that I do need to get the glass cut for the screen I have the frame all set up and currently wood is in place of glass.

Don't use wood in place of glass - it'll ruin your wiper-blades dead quick!

Was this something you wanted to do or an IVA fail?

IVA Fail.
It was deamed that 8 bolts was not secure enough and wanted it welded to chassis.

Just about every 7 kit has bolt on roll bars, and I have never heard of anyone else failing, I think you got a jobsworth
From memory I think that Westfield's are fixed with a single bolt each side, might be talking borrock's though.

Yes i have to agree about not requiring the welding.
There was a disagreement between the guy and my dad but not a arguement, lol. As the tester said the Seat belt eye bolt threads were to short.
In the end he accepted them as they come with the belts that had all the right markings and that was even after ringing technical.
all in all though he was genuine and allowed adjustments and discussed what was required.
Shame i could not get it done sooner though.
