MOT advice please

Hi all,

Following my MOT escapades last week I have admitted defeat and realised that I wont have the time to drive the car anyway this month. So I am thinking of just keeping it off the road for a month or so.

What my worry is though is that the government knows I have tax and insurance and assumes I will drive my car un-MOT'd and give me a fine for my troubles (they are good like that ) . There is no MOT SORN as such so do I have to tell anyone that I intend to not use my car or what?

The car will be MOT'd next month so its not worth the ball ache of getting a tax refund.

As far as I understand I have up to 10 days after the MOT has expired to get a new MOT. What happens after these 10 days?

Any help and points to informative sites would be gratefully received. I have had a look around but all I can find is if you get caught. With an engine mount broken Like mine I am afraid to even start it!!!

Thanks,

Biz

Never heard of the ten day thing for MOTs. Theres no reason to MOT the car if you're not using or keeping it in aw public place.

Where I take my car the 10 days thing is simply for a free partial re-test.

i was fined £60 on the spot just before christmas for having no MOT, It was 2 days out, my own fault and the rules are the rules.

So the 10day rule does not apply and it's down to how the officer stopping you at the roadside feels,

strangly i was allowed to continue on my way without said mot in what could have potentially been a death trap of a car

So this sounds like there is no automated fining system in place and just dont drive the car. If I do then only to the MOT station.
