Has anyone had Rivets Anodised?
Im getting a few done as a trial to save painting them, It will mean i dont need to paint them and they will never crack the paint thats around
them.
Im getting them done black in different finishes to see what i prefer.
Do you think the head of the rivet will get damaged when it gets pulled?

There's nothing to stop you putting a little plastic washer on the rivet to protect it as it's being pulled.

You can buy rivits in pretty much any colour if you know where to look.

Jon,
Out of interest, where would you have the anodising done?
I'm looking for somewhere local to do some plating etc.

I think there is a problem with the steel 'nails' that are in the rivets.
The acid used to etch the natural oxide surface prior to anodising will dissolve the steel. I recall that when we made jigs for holding the ally items
to be anodised we were always advised never to use mild steel components.

we do plain anodising on some of the parts we make at work. We don't do plating though unfortunately. I just knocked the steel pin out before
hand. Had a few polished and a few bead blasted to see how they looked. I need to pop a few and see how they fair up. The plastic washer is a good
idea.
