Duratec cooling
Help needed with the plumbing on the duratec. Right, thermo housing has 2 inlet/outlet 1 larger than the other. The large 1 to the bottom of rad?
Where does the smaller one go?
Next the bypass from under the thermo housing to the back of the block bottom connection?
Next the bottom outlet on my expansion tank goes where?
Back near side of engine to top of rad?
And overflow off rad + small connection offside rear engine to expansion tank.
Or and larger connection on offside rear blank off as I'm not using a heater.
Time for a beer or 2!!
Cheers in advance!!!

"so from the diagram, from my expansion tank needs to T into the rad bottom hose?

I would say no.
Mine is done slightly differently, I have plumbed it as close to the original Focus it came out of:
Plumbing
From the back of the head I have a plastic block with the following outlets on it: 32mm, 16mm, 16mm bypass and 8mm.
The 16mm bypass hose is left in place as standard installation.
The 32mm goes to the top of the radiator, I ran this under the throttle bodies using an alloy tube (seems mad to run it the other side of the engine
only to let the exhaust heat the water!), the bottom return hose from the radiator goes back to the 32mm thermostat housing.
The 16mm outlet coming from the thermostat goes to a T piece, one goes to the bottom of the header tank the other to the heater (if you don't
need a heater, don't use a T piece).
The 16mm outlet from the plastic block at the back of the head goes to a stop tap and then on to the heater (if you don't need a heater put in a
blanking plug.
The 8mm outlet goes to the top of the header tank.
I would expect the alloy version to have similar outlets as the plastic one.

this has been a help but I have a few questions from it;
I am not running a heater
I think I have the water temp on the back of the engine, it has a pipe at a downward angle on it, is this just blanked or does it need to run
somewhere
I dont have 2 inlets (RED) on my radiator as the last diagram shows, can the red lines be T'd together?
on the inlet side of the engine next to the thermostat is a black box with pipe coming off it, is this an oil breather pipe? dont want to connect it
up to anything if it is.
thanks

Heater connection is the large connection next the coolant temp sensor small one is a breather
Small red from rad is a breather not inlet -i do not have one either.
Black box with orange spout under inlet is crank breather

Think I am confusing myself, been in the garage sine 08:00 and its quite cold
The green circle, thats the breather? what do I need to put that to then?
What is the orange circle pipe? is that a crank breather for vacuum on engine? am running carbs so does that just need blanking off?

Both of those belong to the exhaust gas recirculation valve - egr.
You need to remove them you can get an egr blanking plate for the head off eBay
Usually the port on the inlet is covered by the inlet manifold but this is for aesthetics only same on exhaust side with exhaust manifold
