Side Indicators

I want to put my repeaters in the side of the headlamps - looking at the IVA it says extreme edge .. in my case almost the centre of my rear wheel arch sticks out the most - making it the 'extreme part of the rear'... the repeater has to be viewed 15 degrees above and bellow - but - I'm off outside in a bit armed with string & tape measure to see if I can see my headlamp bowl at 15 degrees outwards from 'my extreme rear'

Thats a pass as far as I can see.

edit to add... Also a perfect exaple showing how they'd fail if fitted to the side panels.

i'm not sure you've got the right diagram there. the one i'm looking at from the IVA shows side repeaters have to be visible at 5 degrees

think this is the right one

the one you've got relates to lights saying they have to be visible 'to the rear' of the vehicle, which after a quick search through that section, only seems to be mentioned in rear fog lamp and brake lamp seperation

I think your rear arch might block visibility, putting them in the rear arch is best i think. or fixed tot he rear hoop somehow?

Hi.. I passed IVA with side repeaters in headlight bowls

They are standard chrome 7" headlights with led side repeaters from bolt on bits on ebay.

I also have led indicators on the scuttle but was told these were not needed as the ones in headlight passed

I was also told that I didn't need tell tale on indicators as you can see both side repeaters from drivers seat

There are a couple of pics in my archive. If I can be anymore help please let me know

Cheers Gavin gavin174

Just chatting to IVA.. from the rear:
15 degrees up - 5 degrees down
minimum 5 degrees out ...

I can manage side regs
but rear i can only manage about 8 degrees

Going to go for a definiate pass by putting them under my elbow on the rear wing....
Then move them to the headlights later...

I put mine on stalks made from 20mm conduit, 2 bushes and 2 running couplers. The indicators (same as yours) can come out of the grommets they come in and be pressed into the conduit (interference fit) with no modification.

The holes in the headlamp bowls are 20mm so the stalks can be removed post test and the grommet the indicators fit in goes straight into it, therefore needing no filling of holes or messing about like that.

you can see the stalks here:
