Master cylinders

Me again!

Currently have a sierra servo assisted master cylinder but the seals are knackered, so needs replacing. The original plan was to go with the sierra unit as I had it, see how it goes and either keep it, change to a none assisted single item or change to dual cylinders as I saw fit having driven it. Don't have that luxury now though so looking for advice on what I should be doing.

So I need your advice on what to do, as I see it my options are:

1) replace like for like
2) change to a none assisted cylinder (VW?)
3) change to dual cylinders

What I'm not sure in is what I need for options 2 and 3, what works involved and how much it will cost.

All advice appreciated.

Easiest swap for better braking is to go to a non-servo Mk1/2 Fiesta master cylinder. It's virtually a streight swap with the Sierra cylinder and will give much better feel.
Laptoprob on here did it this winter and is very happy with the results. Ask him the specifics via u2u.

Is this a slightly smaller bore than the Sierra one?.Although my car stops ok it would be good to have a slightly lighter pedal with a bit more feel. As far as I am aware there are 2 types of sierra master cylinder that are not interchangeable, mine is the cast version and there is also a more tubular looking one that has a different mounting flange with the holes in a different position, so have not got around to finding a compatible replacement yet.

FORD FIESTA MK1 NEW GIRLING BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER 1976-83 NON SERVO | eBay

Paid about 30 quid for mine from memory.

Vast difference from the Sierra version.

PREVIOUS THREAD

Pedal used to be rock hard with no-feel to it.

Now its very progressive.

ok - it's arrived in the post (without a pushrod -as noted above) - and it has 6 outlets on it. I'm assuming that the top two are for a reservoir - any clues on how the other 4 (two on the side / two pointing towards the floor) should be configured - or where I look for that info?!

They are marked P and S, P (primary) ports are for the front brakes, and S (secondary) ports are for the rear.
I used the 10mm S port for the rear brakes, and blanked the 12mm port off.
If you bought the one in your ebay link, the outlets are opposite each other, on the sides, non point down.
