Mazda 2.3 L3 engine

Hi All,
Can anyone confirm that a 2006 Mazda L3 2.3 engine will bolt to an MX5 gearbox from a 2008 car? That infamous Wikipedia says it should, for what it's worth.

Thanks,
Cheers,
Nev.

Where is the starter located?

Claire has fitted Mazda v6's to the mx5 box, but the problem is on the Mx5 the starter fitting is on the engine but on the v6 it's on the bell housing. So the although the 2 fit together, you end up without a starter mounting. She uses an adapter plate to overcome the problem.

Thanks for that.

On the post 2005 MX5 gearboxes, the starter mount is on the 'box, and very similar to the Duratec, which the engine is badged as by Ford.

I'll go ahead with much trepidation.

cheers,
Nev.
