more DIY Fuel tank advice needed please
Here's a link to someone who's done a good job but I wonder
at how the pumps are wired; I always assumed the tops of the pumps had to sit outside the top of the tank so the wiring side wasn't submerged in
petrol.
In this article, the guy has isolated his connections both side of the tank and wired the pumps in-over.
Has anyone experience of this?
Thanks
Mark

its quite normal for the pump wiring to be submerged in the tank.
the pump should be as low as possible too

All OEM in tank pumps that I have seen have had exposed wires, the pump should be as low as possible within the tank to ensure it never runs dry, it
is both cooled and lubricated by the fuel.

Thanks Guys
Exposed wires seems fine now, as long as they're proper secure and there's no chance of spark. I know about flashpoints, so being immersed
should be fine.
It seemed a little counter-intuitive at first.

not so much flash over,
it dont explode cos its above its hel (highest explosive limit)
always a worry though first time you fill the tank from dry....
must be a point during filling that its below that!

I've seen a couple of solutions to doing this, one which is this excellent solution.
I think it's also very locost, and the reasoning is in
this excellent blog post.
Putting a threadded rod through, with sealent would seem to be an excellent and no matter which way i reason it, it's safe.
I've been looking for glands but they're only rated for water, not fuel. There are 2,Military Gold 2-Pin Twist
Male&Female Connector,F2P q | eBay which would panel mount with a little bit of sealant to be sure.
I've yet to see if there's a reseller for fischer
connectors but worst case, I'll go for the nylon bolt
