Using Vinyl Wrap to change the colour - would you tell the DVLA??
If you were to change your cars colour completely, say from blue to orange but using vinyl rather than paint, would you bother telling the DVLA?
Seeing that it’s not permanent, well less permanent than paint. Was thinking it could be an issue when going for the MOT
Obviously I’d have to tell the insurance that it is wrapped and a different colour, they’d through a wobbler if I didn’t
What do you think, I suppose it's a minor cost to change, just a bother

You're only talking about the cost of a stamp, aren't you? Might as well do that little thing and be 100% legal.

It's probably the coppers you should worry about when the car comes up the wrong colour...

It's a change of colour, permanent or not!

I bet they will ask for more than just your word that you have changed it. meaning photos/reports/inspections etc.
EDit -

Why would you tell the insurance
But not DVLA
The cops use DVLA info and insurance data
If they look you up you will be stopped
That'll soon get tedious
DVLA don't care if its paint, gel coat, a big sticker or crayon
But they do insist you tell them
I eat to survive
I drink to forget
I breath to pi55 my ex wife off (and now my ex partner)

humm .
"Colour change car wraps are seen by the DVLA as reversible so they don't need to be informed unlike when you paint your
vehicle."
I would want that in writting from the DVLA; good luck!

My bike is registered as blue, it's been white wrapped for three years now. I've had god knows how many police cars near me, not one took
any notice. It's been through MOT's and it's not flagged an issue.
Every company or person I speak to says that they're a temporary thing, whether it's a single colour or a Sky van adorned with Jack Bauers
mugshot.
Slightly OT, Loggyboy, there is a brilliant post in that link you added...

At what age must drivers of red Alfa Romeos, and Vauxhalls contact the DVLA to inform them that their cars are now pink?

Police ANPR wont register the colour, it just checks MOT/TAX/Stolen etc, so that wouldnt get picked up.
PNC check would reveal the colour, but this would only be done if they had already stopped you for something else. So aslong as you dont drive like
c*** then you would be safe.
I bet sky dont tell the DVLA everytime they change their vans to a different advertsing scheme.

Nice so the little rascals that go around nicking your number plate to steal petrol ect only need to find a car of the same type not colour.. makes
there life a bit easier

The DVLA are getting very picky about colour changes at the moment. (Friend has just had to have a VRO inspection on his Tiger for a colour change -
just had to turn up and they checked vin no. etc) Some vinyl wrap companies say you don't have to tell the DVLA but I suspect the DVLA will be
introducing a rule on this soon as it seems to crop up the more and more as wrapping is becomes more popular.
Remember nearly getting carted off to the nick when stopped at roadside check, they said the van I was drfiving was supposed to be green, which it had
never been, copper wanted to nick me for driving a ringer
