ambulance chasers?
Had a prang in the company tintop last year. Had a number of calls over the last few days telling me that funds had been set aside from the claim
specifically for me.
Problem is the only thing this 'representative' knew about my accident was the date. He got the wrong car reg. But it was one of my cars.
Scam or hoax or ambulance chaser?

I'd just ignore them, ask to speak to someone and then leave the phone of the hook, they'll soon get fed up wasting their time

Even accident repair outfits are at this now --- if they don't know the correct details especially claim number its is hinky.
Not the first time I have heard of this personally I suspect somebody within some of roadside recovery outfits are selling on the personal details.

at work it seems every phone number in the office has been given out to these sales company's, we get loads through the day so all just try and
wind them up as much as possible, it actually gets really good fun seeing how long you can string them along with sob stories, then have reception
issues or wander off for a coffee mid sentence. Sometimes the highlight of a dull day

Scam or hoax or ambulance chaser?
all of the above. scam, because they don't know anything except you had an accident, they'll phish for the rest. "your car had a reg
of YH12FRD? er, no, it was SL09WRT (notes that down for later)" and so on.
hoax, theres no money set aside, they do that to butter you up
ambulance chaser, well, they got your details from somewhere...
if you wanted to claim, i'm sure you could yourself, if they get anything for you, you'd lose a fair chunk for them to send in a letter
that you could have done yourself, like PPI.
avoid them, tell there to wee off and get a proper decent respectable job

This sort of thing was in the news the other day, two scumbags got fined £440,000 for sending spam SMSs about accidents and PPI.

Last month I insured my brother on my car for the day, the next weekend someone rang me asking for him about his accident. He started going on about
the one he had on his moped (it was that long ago) and then it clicked. I'd put his name but my phone number etc as it was my car

A few weeks back we ordered a new hob and oven pack from B&Q, the following week we had a very sharp rise in the number of pest calls
including a spam email --- B&Q had both numbers, the deluge of calls lasted for exactly one week then stopped, coincidence ?
