R1 rev limiter

Hi guys,

Please could someone confirm what rpm the rev limiter on the 2003 R1 injection engine (5PW) cuts in.

And could someone with on the road/race track experience of driving a BEC recomend what rpm I should program my gear shift light to come on.

Thanks

Sam

The rev limiter cuts in between 11,500 and 11,750rpm, depending on how hard you are accelerating.

I had my shift light set at 10,500rpm (max power) so you still had a few revs to play with if needed before the limiter cuts in.

Regards
Chris

I think the rev limiter on the 2003 model is the same as the non injection one ie 11,250. Stangely if you tickle the throttle you can get an extra 250 rpm which I found strange.

Max power is around 11k so this is where you would want to keep the revs if really caning it. I tend to shift at just over 11k so that when the revs drop I am still right on the power. A decent exhaust and in your case Power commander map should give you plenty of midrange and anything over 6k and you'll be storming.

Cheers

Jim
