noise reduction for garage
My new garage (brick walls, flat roof) is nearly finished. just the door to fit, maybe partition off the end etc.
trouble is, it is all hard surfaces, even the flat roof is not felt but fibreglass. And a fair size (3.6x8.3m, just inside the no plans/regs limit)
So I am after any ideas for noise reduction. I guess to help I could put rockwool slabs on the ceiling and overboard, but that wouldn't help
inside. Save up loads of card eggboxes?? anything else?? Carpeting the ceoiling was a thought, but a lot of grinding/welding will be happening, so
really it wants to be fire resistant (is rockwool fire safe?) And did I mention cheap?
Any ideas chaps and chappesses?

Tricky!
How about rubber flooring that kills two birds with one stone.
Corners cause resonance in acoustics IIRC so stick shelves in the corners to break up standing waves.
Irregular shaped ceiling would help - how about putting some hanginfg storage up the center.
Apart from that I'm stumped.

ear defenders. much cheaper, so much so that you can afford to buy them for all your neighbours too

What noise are you trying to decrease?
The noise getting out (annoying the neighbours), the noise getting in (annoying neighbours), or are you trying to deaden the noise to you inside that
you are making inside?
For the last I suggest earplugs and/or eardefenders as being the most effective and cost effective.

It isn't taht big. Honest. It is a good sized single garage. Honest.
I want to reduce the echo type hoises. Guess it is totally empty, but I hope to keep it very clear, at least the main section (I intend to brick-built
a partition, giving 6m or so for the car, and the rest "workshop". It will be used for spraying, welding etc etc etc as well as mechanical
work.
Main priority is to stop the neighbours suffering too much, and me not going mad from the noise. Maybe a blanket or similar hung up on the walls may
help, and easily taken down. Just a thought.
