FS: E6 BGH Type 9 Heavy Duty Semi-Helical Gearbox (Pic Heavy)

Hi Guys,

I have up for sale my E6 BGH Type 9 semi helical gearbox, i bought it off a guy who was using it in a sprint car and had the 1st and second gears changed but kept the long 5th, its seen one summer of driving. Beautiful box and very smooth, reason for selling is i have upgraded to a straight cut quaife. No Bell housing included, but alloy top cover and Quaife quick shift gear level are

RRP = £1215+VAT

Looking for £900 ono, (open to senisible offers), collection from Coventry or Milton Keynes (Monday to Friday 7am-3pm)

Ratios are

1st = 2.39
2nd = 1.56
3rd = 1.26
4th = 1
5th = 0.87

All the best

Alex

Hi Alex. From memory, straight cut = dead noisy. Or have things improved since we tried s/c gears in a 1964 Mini?

Work-in-Progress: Changed to Zetec + T9. Still trying!!

Things haven't improved, it's just that your now suffering from noise induced deafness!

I've been out in the Westfield that the straight cut box was in and in my opinion I didn't think it was that noisy. Certainly when I was on track I didn't notice it. I don't particularly go cruising in my Dax so I'm not too bothered about any noise.

Hi John,

Input shaft measures 148mm from base to nose tip, it has been ran in a Westfield and my Dax Rush. I was running it on the back of 200bhp pinto with no problems

Is it like the one in this topic? http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=50708

I am getting confused though as I am sure I have a short shaft as its 175mm like in this diagram http://thumbsnap.com/ZEqBpOaM

If yours is 175mm from the tip of the shaft to the face of the gearbox that the bellhousing mounts on then I will take this conversation back to U2U

Certainly looks like a short shaft version. My E6 was running well into the 200BHP region before I upgraded to a E8.

Do they have an email address then? I drive within 1/2 mile of them on the way home from work but they are shut by that time otherwise I would pop in and talk to them about it!

apologies for the crudity and obviously its not to scale

But from the base to the nose tip. (and when i say base, i mean the surface the back of the bell housing butts up against with the gasket) measure 177mm.
