Small / slimline crank sensor??
Can anyone suggest a nice small / slimline crank sensor I can use with the Megajolt on my Monte?
The one I have is a Magnetti Marelli and it's battling for position with the water pump pulley in the only position I can mount it. I made a new
mounting bracket for it to match up with the missing tooth on the crank pulley at 90deg btdc, as per Megajolt requirements. I was quite pleased with
my work until I bolted on the water pump pulley!!

If you want the absolutely smallest sensor a magneto resisve sensor. They do require a power supply, normally via a resistor. Abs sensors on modern
cars will be of this type.
I guess it is possible to modifty the megajolt to cope with a square wave output.

Ta, looks slim but too long. Could do with slim and short tbh. If it gets past the pulley it then has the pump itself to contend with

I believe that the sensor is sensitive on the side, ie 90 degrees to the axis.

This is the one I have-
http://www.burtonpower.com/magneti-marelli-crank-tdc-sensor-cosworth-yb-06-94-sc607.html
Initially I lined up the centre of it with the centre of the teeth. Can I offset it so the teeth are passing just within the edge of its
circumference?

Sorry, just refereing to magnetoresistive sensors being sensitive in the side axis.
It is possible to use a VR sensor inline with the axis, think i have seen that before but the trigger wheel might need to be replaced to prevent the
"solid portion" affecting the reading iof the teeth, if the teeth are no long enough.

Right, been thinking (dangerous I know ) and have to accept that I can't get a sensor at 90deg btdc using my current crank pulley. So I have 2
options I reckon-
1. Get a new aluminium pulley like this where the trigger wheel can be moved -
http://www.millersmule.com/MillersMuleStore/en/dohc-engine/70-crank-pulley-with-trigger-wheel.html Or modify a std one to take a trigger wheel. Both
would work but neither would be ideal as the whole crank assembly incuding the pulley were balanced as a set.
2. Or sell the Megajolt and EDIS and put the money towards either a Canems or Nodiz Pro ignition only ECU that can be setup in software for any crank
sensor position ie 120deg just like I need
So, anyone want to buy a complete Megajolt Lite, CDs, loom, EDIS etc ??
