Lacquering aluminium interior panels
Can anyone tell me if aluminum panels can be spray lacquered?
I went over an interior panel with fine wire wool today and love the finnish. Problem is it marks very easily and wondered if I could seal it.

There are finishes such as surtec 650 that give a good protective finish... But they need to be professionally applied...you can spray, but a good
etch prime always helps.

I have always clear coated bare ally with no problems, using rattle cans.
The secret is to give the ally a good clean (I use Auto Glym alloy wheel cleaner) then finish off with scotch bright pads, if you use wire wool make
sure it is stainless, not steel wool.
Don't wet the ally after, just a wipe with a Tack Cloth before spraying.

Which lacquer rattle can would you recommend? I did go over with scotch bright, which left a great finnish better than the steel wool.

UPol if you can find it. I have used Halfords, but it tends to yellow very slightly.

if you are speaking about removeable / loose panels i would give them to your nearest powder-coating company...clear powder is not un-common.
