IVA-Registration

Has any body had any problems with IVA and Registration relating to registering a Kit Car with a brand new engine with no engine number. I purchased a new 1.8 Zetec Black Top, from a Ford Dealer, I have a receipt from the Dealer. I have not been able to locate an engine no. I contacted Ford Technical Deptment, a helpful chap told where the engine no. should be, however cannot locate it. I would like to have the car registered with a current reg. rather than a Q no. Thanks in advance for any comments. David

See extract from an old post

"Service part engines do not have an engine number. Ford only stamp the numbers on the original engine shipped with the car. Delaers are advised to restamp the old engine number when doing a service exchange."

With that assumption you could use the last 5 digits of your chassis number and have a numbers matching car.

Old advice I read was to borrow an engine number from a car/engine being scrapped.
