Surely the way those harnesses were mounted is dangerous in a frontal accident???

The majority of wheeler dealers "work" looks bodged to me! There is a seven of some description in a future episode, will be interesting

Looking at the IVA manual, it would seem to me to be acceptable to have the belts/harnesses mounted low down, as long as the seat is designed to form
the effective upper mounting point and is provided with sufficient strength (just as it is acceptable for belts to be provided fixed to the seat
rather than the body). I greatly doubt that those "free" seats are suitable though.

trs specify a max of 45 degrees downward, so i think they may have been right on the edge of it

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Ed is suposed to be a brilliant mechanic but i noticed he makes a lot of mistakes, like spinning an alternator that isnt connected, not mentioning
disconecting a battery before welding and using filler instead of metal and as for fat fingers......

You guys take it too seriously. It is entertainment - the sale is always completely bogus and staged for the show!

Very true. There is a car auction on the other side of my local town(bright wells Leominster). On the show they buy a defender there you can see a
couple of my friends in the background on TV. It's a well known fact around here that they trailered the car there themselves, drove it through
the sale and staged buying it through auction. Even the customers there were told not to bid on it!
