another old engine lives again !!

My 94 2.0L zetec, running twin 45's, raceline water rail and a daihatsu charade alternator actually runs !!

did all the usual, filled oil filter with oil, took the plugs out and turned the engine over...

Plugs back in chucka, chucka, pop, spit.......chucka, chucka, pop, spit.....................chucka, chucka, pop, spit, stop two pumps of the accelerator.....chucka, chucka, chucka, BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

man that was loud, think I woke everyone for about 10 miles around (however was only 8.30pm).

5 Bar / 72.5 PSI oil pressure (top of the gauge)

charging at 14 - 15 volts at idle,

only one problem the thermostat in the water rail does not seem to be opening properly, temp got to over 100 degrees and top hose was still cold ! Subsequently the radiator cap on the micra rad started to hiss a little (stopped engine at this point).

So carbs need balancing and tuning and water system needs looking at , apart from these I'm very happy.

keep going people it's moments like these that make it all worthwhile !

Its a really good feeling isn't it. For me it was the point when the project changed from a chassis into a car - nice

Dead right Mark, all the times I have thought of giving up because I just stripped a thread or messed something up have now just been put away in a box forever. I'll get a new thermostat and gasket in the morning. Tuning the carbs will have to wait until the weekend when I can make some serious noise without the neighbours complaining.

OH MAN! I hear you loud and clear! Truer words never spoken. And that is an addictive feeling that makes the agony worthwhile.
