DIY Inlet Manifold
Has anyone bought and built one of the diy inlet manifolds for sale on eBay, those that you get the manifold plate which is machined to suit the
engine and the primary pipes and inlet pipes which you weld together yourself? If so are they any good.
£69 compared to £200 is very tempting

I started with a blank piece of steel and an old gasket, some bits off pipe (steering column) and drilled, welded and whittled my own... similar but
took a lot longer...
Worked out ok....

Made my own from a lump of 12mm ally plate and tube , scribed around an inlet gasket and cut using a woodworking coping saw and plenty of lube .
Bolted up to head and blended ports before bolting to spare head for welding to limit distortion when welding

Same as Coozer for me... I bought a laser cut manifold plate from Danst engineering and some tube and cut/welded it myself. For the same components
(essentially) it was much cheaper than £69.

I didn't bother with one and just bolted the ZX6 bike carb rubbers to some home cut 5mm ali plate. The carbs need to be re-spaced and floats
adjusted to compensate for being horizontal for this approach.

I used the flange from the standard manifold as the basis for mine. Hacksawed then machined flat.
Jigged up with the tubes then welded.
If you are going to the trouble and expense of a new manifold then I would recommend re-spacing your carbs/ ITBs
to avoid the necessity of "cranked" tubes.

the trouble with respacing, is keeping them all square and all the linkages correct.
easier to keep as the japs built and rejig the tubes
I'd love to give my imaginary friend a great big hug,
but this jacket makes it impossible.
