Rear lights

Anyon seen/tried these from Carbuilder Solutions? http://www.nfauto.co.uk/rear_lights_new.htm

They look neat all in one units - just might be a pig to fix them onto the rear arches and get the face vertical.

Or, could they be fixed flush to the rear panel and still be SVA legal?

they don't need to be vertical.

only the fog needs to be vertical iirc.

evryones fog light i've seen is vertical, but most rear lights are just sunk into the rear arch. just be careful of the depth it needs setting in.

confirmation would be good though

Very nice and very neet, but very deep too. Doubt if they would fit in a 7 rear arch, which is why I didnt buy any
Definatly do NOT need to be perfectly vertical for SVA, only the fog light.

Anyone got any thoughts as to whether the lights can be on the rear panel and still pass SVA? I think they could be positioned less than 400mm from the outer edge of the wheel arches

I had a look at doing this but it'd be very tight in my opinion. I have 9 inch wide arches (the narrower type) and add to that another 2 inches for the curvature of the back panel. My lights are side by side so you need to add another 4 or 5 inches from the edge of the outboard light to the edge of te inboard light which all adds up to 15 or 16 inches (or 381 - 406mm) This is assuming that the 400mm is measured to the outboard edge of each light which I think is correct.

If you do get your lights fitted in this way then you still need to find room for your fog light and reflectors (and reverse light if you're using one). I found that this all looked just too cluttered on the back panel especially once you add a fuel filler cap, number plate and numberplate light!!

Hope this helps you to reach a conclusion.
Craig.

These ones have stop, rear, indicators, reverse and reflectors in one unit and on my car I am going to put the filler cap on the top, so it might be OK.. something like this: Rescued attachment Car with CarBuilder Solutions lights 2.jpg

Be very careful, if you put the filler on top of the lights, not to spill petrol on the lenses as it will attack the plastics mouldings.

Lights should have a vertical face (or close to vertical) Many rear lights have a mark on the lens that must be horizontal with the centre of the bulb.
