exhaust silencers?

I'm planing two silencers sticking out the rear of my locost and as per usual it's a bit tight for space bearing that in mind can anyone sugest somewhere i might find what i'm looking for?
I'm running a vx 20xe motor with a 2&1/2" stainless pipe comming straight thru then split at the rear into two silencers along the rear then another bend out the back.
Can i use the likes of a motor bike exhaust ,will it manage the exhaust from the 20xe?
Or should i just make my own exhaust to suit what i would like?
sorry in advance for all the questions it just a few of the millions i have rattling about in my heed.

Down where are you going to run the main pipe?

It's just I can't really see there being room in the prop tunnel.

Cheers,
James

It would make for a nice heated arm rest though

I've made the tunnel extra wide especiallyand it'll sit half out the bottom with a sortof fake bottom to my tunnel full of heat reflective material.see here

Well It will be warm in the Winter

Remember that under the Back behind the Diff is the Fuel Tank.. Do you really want that much heat by your fuel tank.. It will help evaporate your Fuel... and at £4 a gallon that is heavy on your pocket

I cant see there is room, or that it is very wise to do this. You have the fuel line in the tunnel as well... and the brake line..
The tunnel will need to be VERY well insulated, cos they will reach temperatures that you will NOT want to touch. I can assure you of that.
My Landy Pipe is 4" from the Floor in Free Air, and has a small heat sheild over the pipe (between pipe and floor) and on a long run I cannot put my hand on the metal floor or the side of the seat box, and thats with a 21 year old Diesel engine being driven reather sedately, not like having a "Jolly Good Time" in a 2 seater Old Chap type of thing

I would think very carefully about this.
Also contact your SVA office, as they may throw some pointers in, if there are any SVA issues. ie Construction type rules etc..

I appreciate everyones concern but as i'm not following the book I'm designing as I go and can move things about to get what I want, so just a bit of trial and error really but thats all the fun, to know your different from everyone else who's following a design that some guy came up with decades ago.

I'm just needing to know where i can find silencers or what silencers I can use to suit my needs?

You can all tell me how wrong I am till your blue in the face as long as you tell me what i need to know

Anyone?

Mike.
