Gearbox/propshaft adaptors

Hello,

I have (finally) removed the old type 3 gearbox from my car and am ready to bolt in the replacement (a type 9) and the V6 engine it has bolted to it. I have just noticed that the output spline on the new gearbox is significantly bigger than th old one, is it possible to still use the old propshaft or should I use the one from the donor ford.

I would prefer to use the old one as it is in better condition and is already cut to length.

Cheers,

Ed

PS.
Old prop and diff is from a mk 4 Cortina, new one is from an XR4i

you would need to cut and join the two ends. Only do this if you know the techniques, are a confident welder, and trust yourself to make one well balanced or are fool enough to use one unbalanced!

Beware! Bourettes is binfectious.
