'The look'

When I eventually get to the bodywork stage, I have certain ideas of how I want it to look. I kinda like the 'rat' look, if that makes sense?!
I've all but decided to go for as much carbon fibre as possible (mate of mine builds carbon racing yachts) with bits that are not possible to do in carbon, I will paint satin black. Then have stainless roll bar and other bits. What do we think?

Has anyone done this combination before or anything similar?
Would be nice to see how it may look

Personally i LOVE hot rods and think your idea is cracking.

Heres a rod to wet your whistle!

Like it donut, I did enjoy the American Hotrod series a lot.
The amount of carbon will depend on how funds hold out or how many 'offcuts' my mate can bring home
But the satin black is a must!

I have never seen a rat rod made from carbon. You'll have to spray bits of it brown to simulate rust,

Ok ok, maybe the 'rat' look was not the best terminology to describe the look I'm after
It's not going to look like a hot rod anyway is it, and that wasn't my intention!
You know what I mean......maybe not!

I'm going to do the very thing later this month...Flat black crinkle coat (powdercoat) on the ali panels and metalic black anthracite (almost black) with a lot of flatner in the clearcoat.

I have the recipe for the PPG paint if you're interested...

Watch this space for more...

Awesome. I think the look you will have is similar to how most of my cars end up, not so much rat with the rust, mould and weathering but more 'industrial'

My last car had lashings of alloy chequerplate and carbon fibre, plent of matte black, black and yellow tape on the handbrake, aircraft toggle switches etc.

Sounds good, and satin/matte black is a good way to make a car look badass!
