gear knob
Anyone know of a good supplier reasonably priced? The money people want for a gear knob is horrific! It comes to something when demon tweeks are the
cheapest!!!

I know I've seen ally ball type knobs for 16 quid somewhere...maybe Europa?
Having said that, the Sparco ally knobs are 17 quid in DT's motorsport catalogue - less than their "Performance" (ie.
souped-up-shopping-car) range.

I just used a long piece of 3/4 in tube, then cut it down later. I'll now weld in the correct diameter rod into the top, and it's done.
The knobs have adjustable grub screws, so a 1/2 inch rod/tube will be about right.

Mine is a green snooker ball drilled and tapped. I also have a couple of old pool balls which would make interesting knobs. They were 10p each from a
car boot sale.
yours, Pete.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

That's because VAT isnt included on the motorsport range, whereas in the 'perfomance' (hehe) range VAT is included.
Cheers, Stu.
Dont just build it.....make it!

Im going to make my own on a lathe in ally so that it will suit my gear stick diameter. When ive done this i may get something lazer etched on the
top as i have a contact who could do it for me.

Unless you desperately want an ali one which in my experience are chuffin cold most of the time and palm burning on sunny days ('specially in an
open topped roadster I'd imagine!), why not just trawl the local scrappy and find a production one you like? It's suprising how much
development goes into these things on proddy cars as they are part of the 'feel' of a car and can make a gearbox feel better than it is if
correctly designed. Best of all, they're nice and pocket sized! (not that I'm encouraging you to thieve or anything, far from it!)

Saw some at stoneleigh today anodised all sorts of colours £2...
I made some out of stainless for a TVR dealer, he said that because of the weight they realy improved the gearchange. Must be something in it because
McLaren did the same in there F1 road car....
