Sump chopping
I've just recieved my blade sump back from Chris Gamlin's brother after being chopped down.
Anyone else needing this done would do well to give Chris a shout, as the job done on mine was excellent and for a very reasonable price.
Highly recommended.

Ah sorry Joel, been rushed off my feet these last couple of weeks. I did speak to John last week about it but only remembered I was meant to email you
back when I wasnt in front of my PC!
Anyway yep he should be able to turn them round in 2-3 weekends at the moment so I'll u2u the details

What exactly was done, presumably the sump actually shortened by skimming some off the top, if so how much?
Also how is this any more beneficial than having the sump plug moved to the side? Presumably there will be less oil so this could lead to problems in
future? Or am I misunderstanding?
Reason I ask is I was planning to get someone to weld my 'blade (893) sump plug to the side and tap me a hole for temp sender.
Any reason why the "sump chop" would be better? Oh, and how much

Nothing skimmed off the top, you generally chop the bottom out and rebuild the base of the sump. Unfortunately you can't economically do much
with the carbed blade sump other than move the drain plug to one side Im afraid, my uncle did a full chop down for my blade engine but the shape makes
it awkward and time consuming to build back up, so it would cost not far short of a billet sump to do again, so not really worth it.
The ZX9 and most other engines have a much more pronounced bowl for the pickup which is much easier to shorten significantly
