SVA Fail Cardiff

Hi all, just to let you know....

Failed on:-

Couple of edges inside and out - easy fixes (sponge and edge strip).

Front indicators too far from edge - rear track wider than front, i was hoping to get away with it...

Trackrod ends need better protection, i had used foam - he wanted to see those plasticky things on ebay.

Brake bias too far to rear on two readings, and not pinned (obviously not going to do that until it passes)

Speedo out - i had forgotten my speedohealer instructions, he gave me an opportunity to get it right but couldn't in the time available....

EMISSIONS!!! readings were:-

First fast idle -

CO 0.05 Pass

HC 18 Pass

Lambda 1.15 Fail

Second fast idle -

CO 0.55 Fail

HC 22 Pass

Lambda 1.04 Fail (just)

Natural idle -

CO 0.86 Fail

Think it's running too lean, fuel pressure a bit low - 38psi but i think i need 43psi??

Last thing was rear axle design weight, Luego figures were 500 - with me in it it was 500.68!!! Bit harsh?? I need to diet....

Soooooo....could have been worse, got the retest booked for two weeks tomorrow which was the earliest test date available.

Russel the tester seemed a nice enough bloke though, is a biker too!

Going for a pint now.....

Rich.

Rich,

bad luck with the knock back. At least you know what needs sorting to get through next time. I've just been through my second, and the guy was really laid back about the mods i had done to sort the radiusing problems etc. he didn't even chaeck with the spheres etc. we just went over the car quickly - i pointed out what i had done and he nodded after a quick glance.

have you booked up your retest?

Front indicators too far from edge - rear track wider than front,

They measure the lighting 400mm in from the widest point on the vehicle, that's what he means, not a problem with the track being wider at the rear.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
