Wish boan panting/covering
I have had a look back through the past threads and found lots of info on panting the chasy. But I want to know what you lot would suggest I do with
my wish boans i.e. powder cote or paint and if I paint what with.

MK told me if you aint sprayin it .. red lead & hardest paint you can afford.
Hornet's right though.... you definately need a brush !
I did mine with hammerite rippled and it looks sh!te, will spend a lot of time re-doing them.

Soz M8,, couldnt resist it..
anyways.... i red leaded and then top coated with hammerite smooth black.
I used one of them small sponge rollers.. gave an excellent finish with no runs or sags.
But since then, i have found that while doing small jobs on chassis... chips are appearing as if by magic on frame... maybe Hammerite wasn't
such a good choice...

So powder coating is not a good idea.
When you say hard paint what do you mean and could you give me some examples

Is Red Lead and Red Oxide the same thing?
How about Red Lead with Black Household Gloss paint on top. Is this what you would describe as a "Hard" paint?

Don't use Hammerite!
I understand Hammerite has a plasticiser that never quite sets, so it stays soft even when its "dry". That's why it keeps coming
off. Personally I hate the stuff but because I'm not a paint sprayer its the only reasonable thing to use.
You might try getting the wishbones chrome or nickel plated. That's what I am going to do, if I can get the ball joint off (its screwed into the
bottom wishbone just after welding, so the cooling / shrinking effect is supposed to lock it into place).
Meanwhile they're on the car and rusting...

I brush painted Hammerite (smooth) onto my wishbones to give a good thick coat, then once that had started going off, went over it with same paint in
an aerosol.
Look great.
Used it on rest of chassis, ok, but has chipped. So would you if I hit you with a 200kg engine and box combo.

Might suggest evenly and quickly heating wishbone with oxy/acetelyne torch. Hopefully expansion may allow you to remove balljoint. Once free I'd
recommend re tapping the thread (without damaging/crossthreading).

Get them into a bodyshop, ask then to etch primer and then 2pack them in your chosen colour, if they wait until they get a car in the same colour and
paint then at the same time, the costs should be quite low - I would probably charge about £30+vat as a guide
