Bo**ocking from wife
I'm cleaning all my donor parts and apparantly I have traipsed oil and grease/grime through the house and on some new carpets. I've left
greasy finger prints all over the light switches. I got a talking to from the wife, now I've promised to be more careful and wash my hands when
coming into the hose etc.
I've got to tread carefully with her as I'll be spending alot of our savings on this project. At least she seems OK when I put parts in
the oven to dry them off before painting. At least I'm not in the pub, I tell her.
Can't wait till I get the kit and start drilling the ali floor, then we'll have ali swarf all through the house!
I guess many of you have had similar issues?
Why do they call Port Harcourt "The Garden City"?...... Becauase they can't spell Stramash.

I was made to have a shower after a session cos she didn't like the smell of thinners/petrol/grease/paint/gearbox oil/engine oil/polish etc etc
on me at bed time

Yeah my mum was never too keen on the state of her sink after a hand washing! (car lives at her house) In fact my girlfriend was very understanding
when bits of rust and oil were found in the bed at frequent intervals! Oli.
If your not living life on the edge you're taking up too much room!

I usually get a shower BEFORE I have a session cos she doesn't like the smell of thinners/petrol/grease/paint/gearbox oil (Whats that? )/engine
oil polish etc etc on me at bed time.
PS - We are talking about the same sort of session aren't we??

I think I made myself clear I meant the session before the session

I've found an ideal solution - get a dog and you can't see the oil on the carpet for the muddy pawprints!

I've got quite the opposite problem - she keeps asking what she can do to help and be part of the project.
Funny how she changes her mind when I give her an old caliper and a wire brush...
There was a recent thread on here that dealt with getting rid of oil/grease from carpets too - brake cleaner is apparantly the thing to use (unless it
bleeches the carpets!)

So this is what i've got to look forward to!!!! My donor arrived yesterday and i was told in no unsertain terms that i've got a week to
strip and get rid of it. Having just moved into a new house, the idea of old and grease arround would tip her over the edge.
Fun and games to come!!!!!

I started painting my calipers with bright red enamel paint on the kitchen table (on newspaper) when the wife tells me not to get any paint
anywhere.
10 minutes in and the full paint pot decides to fall off the table !! I try to catch it and end up with hands completely covered in enamel paint, but
more alarmingly the wooden floor is also covered.
Have been banned from the house (when working on car) since that day

hey all,
I think I'm blessed with a very understanding girlfriend when it comes to the garage, but hey that was part of the deal,
she wanted a house with a nice bathroom, with 2 person bathtub and a seperate shower etc etc etc, and I wanted a garage, so first I build her the
batroom, then the garage for myself (which is actually located inside the house) no problems ever since. but i've made a small handswashing sink
in teh garage so no oil on the doorknobs.
however a friend of mine once decided that very grumpy cylinderheads are best cleaned in..... offcourse the dishwasher! (how smart) after that the
machine gave way SWMBO also threatened him with devorce. hahaha so I bought myself one of the "el cheapo " partswashers, and am still out
of trouble.

Listening to you lot ALMOST makes me glad I'm single.
When my projects finished I think I'll have a go at building a girlfriend. Anyone know how much lightening rods cost?
Who the f**K tightened this up!

I had similar probs but tried to be careful. kitchen with laminate floor helps!
I too used to have the ogs in the garage with me. As posted just after christmas please please be careful when you do this. I lost one of my
retrievers after he ingested some antifreeze that leaked on the garage floor. There is no cure - it takes their kidneys out in no time at all - very
very nasty. Theres lots of stuff we take for granted in a garage that is simply not animal friendly.

Luckily my hound would rather be in the garden chasing planes than be in the garage with me!
I recall your story and warning very well Darren, and it was thanks to that that when I had a coolant leak on my Mazda camper on the drive the dog was
kept in the house until I'd well and truly hosed the coolant away....
It still makes me sad to think about your pup, but thanks again for the warning....

I made a home made lathe yesterday!
Bread Knife caught me and dialled 99 into the phone in readiness.
Needless to say, it failed after 2 secs and I was made to take it apart immediately.
Apparently I should have more respect for my own mortality!

For 2-3 years I kept at least two (sometimes three) motorbikes in the conservatory as the old house only had a single garage. 'Er indoors was
never bothered!
