Which one? II

I didn't want to hijack the previous "Which One?" thread so I've started a new one which, although related, does go off at a slight tangent.

I too have been looking at the Avon on the basis that Chester Sportscars are only about 20mins away. However, I do fancy building my own chassis and have found the chassis section of the Avon book a little lacking when compared to something like the McSorley plans. Does anyone do any more detailed Avon plans or am I just better off going down the "book" Locost route?
Thanks in advance

Go the locost route. I think the new book is out soon.

Yup, January was the last I heard. I've pre-ordered it anyway from Amazon (I was hedging my bets in that respect).

Build Your Own Sports Car: On a budget (Hardcover) by Chris Gibbs

Chris Gibbs?? How come? Is this a new version of the old book or new material in its entirety??

Cheers

Uncle Ron has had no input to this book. Chris Gibbs posts on here as ChrisG (although not as much as he used to). The car is Sierra based, and painted up in Haynes livery. Chris has built a Locost himself, although his excuses for not driving it have become legendary within the Yorks chapter of the Locost owners club! (from the bulb in the glovebox needing changing to the wrong shade of black for the tyres!).
From what I've seen, the new car is very well built and there should be no glaring errors in the chassis section!

If I were you, I'd have a chat with Avoneer. He's built an Avon and his latest chassis (although apparently buried under crap in an inaccessable garage) is a first-class job.

Go for the locost route! You'll prob appreciate it more in the end....chester sportscars are great and I'm sure they'll be only too happy to help you out even if your not building a Tiger....Oli.
