first I've heard of it.

The sump will need a bit removed but thats all.

The Pinto is too tall for the "book" locost chassis and body work. Most cars designed to take the Pinto are approx. 1" taller to accomodate it. even then you will probably still need to modify the rocker cover to re-position the oil filler neck to the rear of the rocker cover to avoit it fouling on the nosecone and bonnet.

You will also need to modify the sump to reduce the depth or find an alloy RS2000 sump and pick up pipe (not cheap).

Taller body work is available, as it wider stuff to fit a +4 chassis. I believe the MK body work, as an example, is taller to fit a wider range of engines.

I am doing this too and just sorting the bodywork now. I am using a Caterham nosecone and it is about one and a half inches higher to clear the cam wheel. I have done this by lifting the bottom of the nosecons on a bit of ally angle that will eventually have a hinge so I can flip the nose forward for service access.

I have a book chassis with a 1600 ohc, nose cone lifted slightly and engine on home made mounts using land rover rubbers and short sump.
The nose cone is about 5mm above the pulley.

MK bodywork is the same dimensions as the book. The extra is in the chassis. GTS do taller bodywork ISTR.
