Section shape

Hi, all. A simple question I think. Would a chassis that had a trapezoid shaped cross section be stiffer than a chassis that had a rectangular cross section?

I've seen a sub-frame bolted on in the space above the engine in a 7-a-like. Looked ok, must be stiffer but heavier too. I bet you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference.
