Lotus europa

Long shot i know, but i'm after a lotus europa S2, condition unimportant, not bothered about chassis or mechanicals, which will not be used but would prefer it to be reasonably complete
body and trim wise and with a V5.
any leads gratefully received.
Cheers
Al

There was one on Ebay, non runner that didn't achieve its reserve this week. I think you can search on finished auctions, may be worth an email to the seller. Another, a runner with history but badly in need of body and interior refurb went for £3000 yesterday. They come up every few weeks, I would love one, preferably the series 1 but these were all exported AFAIK and this is on my lit of possible projects once the Locost is done.

It is possible to get panels from Banks who do rebuilds and refurbs they might have an old take off body if you are looking for something to make moulds from.

let us know what your project is as I said I realy like the look of the europa and if you are planning a kit or a project based on one i would be interested.

What price are you looking at paying ?

There was a white one under a tarpaulin about a mile from here but I wouldn't ask about it as the owner of the bungalow was the most miserable git I ever came across. I think he thought I was going to nick it because I stopped and showed an interest.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

No Macnab, the locost is safe, and not about to be chopped around .

Thanks caber i'll check ebay out, Iv'e had a long standing urge to build a mid engined V8, utilising a scratch built chassis and after looking at loads of body options, i think a europa would fit the bill nicely, better still if i can get a complete car with V5 and period reg. I got turned onto the europa after seeing an article in PPC featuring a Banks type 62 with a 500hp ford V8 in the back, bloomin awesome!

Pete, as for money, being a tight yorkshireman i want to pay as little as possible, but accept that it wont be a locost project, so will pay what i have to for the right car. I've only been looking for a short while, so i can't gauge the market yet, have seen a couple go on fleabay for less than 3k.

Al.

James, check this out before you decide

I think I like the original better than the type 62. This is really an entirely different beast to the Europa it has a spaceframe instead of a backbone and the glassfibre plays no part in the structure, the Europa Mk1 has the body bonded to the chassis for a very stiff structure, the Mk 2 is bolted to make crash repairs easier and cheaper at a slight loss of rigidity.

The Europa (Lotus 46) was intended to replace the 7 and is a pretty stripped out car, the Europa 2 is much more on the lines of later Lotuses (Loti?) more padding and carpet, walnut dash, electric windows etc.

Like the 7 it is a car I have wanted since I got a ride in one as a kid that's why it is on the project list!

If someone was to look at a kit version and use Scooby engine and transaxle that would be pretty interesting, lots of options on engine size and power, should fit in the original body shape give or take slightly flared arches if you keep scooby suspension!
