I have been talking to a lacal mechanic today , and he has offered me a professionaly gas flowed head, that he said was good for 175bhp for £350.
Is that a good deal.

Depends. BHP figures are a it subjective, if he has a rolling road print out for he engine it was on then its not a bad price. Perhaps a little
expensive side, depending on how much use its had and whether is unleaded or not.

Its definately unleaded, he's got a rolling road, and his reputation is very good for hi performance Fords and mods.

it's a reasonable price, not a bargain, on ebay used with cam & vener pully stage 3 but not unleaded went for about £290 last week, a stage
2 with cam unleaded went for £195 tonight.
I'm on the look out for one at the moment, although the whole "stage 2", "stage 3" thing is very subjective, when
someone advertise or can provide flow rates or dyno chart for the head then i'll bid.

depending on who you speak 2, stage 1,2,3 4(! ) are can mean different things.
find out what valve diameters are and get some idea of the porting: matched ports or opened out, and how much, not that you would get a meaningful
figure for comparison.
are chambers matched? what is state of the valves and guides?
I'll take this opportunity, for no real reason other than I can to post picture of standard xflow head and ported ones - look at the
difference
