Scrapheap Challenges - your suggestions please
As some of you may know many moons ago i was on scrapheap challenge. We built a twin sailed land yacht. Ive just been in touch with one of the guys
from RDF television for a copy of the tape. He has said they are always on the lookout for new challenge ideas. I thought id open this up to you
lot.
Ill send him a link when we have a few on so let the creative juices flow......
Ill make a start - combine harvester.

Something that turns woodland into road in one movement. And vice versa.

Its hard to remeber all the things they've done.
I don't remember ever seeing a straight weight lifting challenge. They could build either Hydraulic platforms or cranes. Then just keep lifting
bigger and bigger weights till one of the machines can't make the lift or breaks trying.
They'd have to be operated from a safe distance of course.
I am not a number!

I am sure combine harvester was done (some sort of harvester definately was - one team ended up doing it by hand!).

i was part of the driller thrillers team. Got beat by the Megs (Noshers team). Very good fun but extremely hard work. TBH honest at the end of it we
were happy to be beaten - we were totally exhausted by it. Twin sail idea was flawed from the start but it made good telly. I wish i had the newspaper
cutting from it still, im well narked that they went missing. It was filmed in 1999.

How about a machine to multiply human force? So it would be controlled by moving your limbs etc but you could pick up heavy stuff like barrels and
cars. I've seen them in sci-fi films and I'm sure they've got a proper name but no idea what!

That's the one! Although it looks more complicated than I remember. Still, I'm sure the teams could figure out how to make one. Not sure
if they've got any aliens on the scrapheap though, maybe Robert could steal one of the old Red Dwarf monsters - scrapheap team vs the vindaloo
monster, that would be an episode worth watching

Exo-skeleton, that would be cool. How about a wood chipper and see who can shred most or biggest branches in a set time.
The international one with the aeroplanes was brilliant, British ingenuity at its best.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

jaws of life, who can cut the dummy out of the car quickest.
exo-skeleton would be cool, but hard to do well and safely.
Mountain climbing vehicle (hillclimb up a 45 slope with assorted rocks etc) - or a classic trials car.
gatling/chain gun, number of rounds in 1 min + accuracy bonus.

Good suggestion but I think it's too implausible to expect a team to produce a fully functioning car wash...
