Black wheels

Why are black wheels so popular?...I have them on my tintop (my son put them on)...

Personally I think they look shite...kind of suck the color away from the car.

Is it just me not liking black wheels?

I agree, But I think the general idea is you don't see or have to clean the brake dust off so often.

I think black wheels looked cool when they first came out, but I'm bored of them now!

Last time I was at my local alloy wheel refinishers they had a colour chart of about 70 different colours.

These are fitted to OiOi's car:-

Although the colour might not suit every bodystyle

Or Calvinx's effort:-

its a personal thing. i've got an all black car because thats the look i was looking for.

wife has a white cooper S with a black roof and stripes and body kit, i personally thought it would look good with black wheels, but after what i had to pay for it i has no money left. and she could not see my vision so... personal choice.

I like black wheels that have a polished rim.

In my case it would be difficult to pick a colour that would go with the body.

As Ditch says, it's a personal thing.

I just wanted that contrast, and of course, the ability to not have to clean brake dust off them is a quality bonus!!!

Guys totally agree about the personal thing...and that's a good thing..how boring would it be if we all liked exactly the same thing whether it be, wheels, cars, footy teams, or even women..

Thanks for the feedback.

I like black wheels. Its one of the first jobs i do when i get a car is to get the wheels black with a silver rim even on steel wheels. Its kind of my trade mark and has been for about 25 years so i like to think i started the trend.

Only one problem SWMBO will not let me do the wheels on her discovery

Black were the only ones that suited mine:

I think that wheel size and colour are a very personal thing. We all have different views - some hate big wheels some wouldn't be without them.
I think the both the green and orange above look great (naff on a tin top mind!!)

Personally, mine are silver....but then my car is bright orange!!!

regards

Steve
