what would the best for road use
1 soft springs stiff shocks
or
2 stiff springs soft shocks

Choose spring, then set damper according to spring/ mass system for best control

Yup. Getting sure the spring rate spot on is the clever bit. Most dampers are adjustable (though to be fair on a light car like a Se7en most will be on one of their softest settings)....

Springs first. When I ordered my shocks, they wanted to know my spring rate, which dictates valving.
