Fuel hose for oil pipe?
Chaps,
Need to connect my (hard) turbo oil feeds to remote filter pipework (rubber).
I'm going to make a "twin T" piece for two oil feeds to go into remote pipework and will need to connect to above.
Is rubber fuel pipe acceptable, given temps involved (I have some lying around).
Cheers very much.

Hi Simon
I do not know about straight rubber but I have some odd bits of aircon hose lying about, these can get very hot, any use ?

The oil return from the turbo on my (old)escort cossie (large turbo motorsport)is a hard line for about 6-8" then changes to rubber to return
to sump, so would think it's ok
If it doesn't fit MODIFY it!!
Cheers BriF

Mark,
Thanks for the offer, but about 2 hours after posting and looking at the scrap tube etc lying around, I think I found a preferable solution.
Continue hard tube right into "twin T" piece.
From initial pipe bending sesh just now, reckon it'll have oil feeds tomorrow
Cossiebri,
It was the oil feed I was concerned about which is hot and under pressure, but your point re rubber pipe useful, as I still have to do returns
Cheers chaps.

For what it's worth I've used fuel hose in my coolant system which is both hot and under pressure without a problem (so far!!).....
Good thing the SVA tester didn't spot it!!!

Another thought, brake pipes... built to withstand heat and pressure with standard fixings.
For additional distributor shaft lubrication braided hose is used when they tap in further up, I think this is brake hose also.
I would be nervous of normal fuel pipe, its only 3bar, injection pipe would be better.

Hi,
Hmm, I know what you mean - I considered using rubber turbo oil returns since its so much easier to get hold of.
Whilst I think it would be resistant to the oil, the extreme heat would soften it and I think it would deteriorate quite quickly.
I searched for quite a while and the best stuff is the braided PTFE lined hydraulic hose that all the industrial hose suppliers seem to stock.
Its not really DIY since the PTFE is very hard and you cant really jubilee it to anything.
They will make you up some hoses with fittings which I did for my returns.
They printed me out a material spec sheet for Mr SVA too.
