Hi and welcome
Firstly, is it a mini based locost?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Welcome
Nope you dont. But they will visually assess the chassis for strength at SVA.
You can usually build a chassis from 16swg (1.6mm) tube and it will be more than strong enough. Though it all depends on its intended use etc.
If you have no experience of spaceframe design then there a few good books around. But it basically comes down to triangulation and deisgning for
stiffness vs weight.
Once you get some designs post some drawings up in the chassis section and you'll get plenty of constructive criticism.

you need to search for kimini if it's actually going to be a spaceframed mini.
Or if its a locost just ignore the above. Not sure if amini would be a good donar for a locost. Escort or sierra is the norm.

all good so far guys
its not actually a space-frame mini, ive been playing with an idea to make a 1 off of my own design for a while, its just putting it together that i
wasnt sure of any resitrictions etc.
oh, yes speedyxjs, a mini based locost. main reason being as thats what i know, ive never been involved with fords so thought it stick to something
