97mm sounds huge, what's the standard bore on a zetec? My xe is bored out +2mm from 86-88 so in now a 2.1 and that's on the limit for a 'standard' block unless you get a purpose made ally block with offset bores (upto 90mm) and have a lot of £ to spend!

Also bear in mind the gudgeon pin size may be different and require special rods making up, also the piston crown and squish/compression and valve recesses etc may be completely different, basically it will cost you more than the power the engine will produce to fit them if it's even possible (ie buy a better/faster/more powerful engine to start with)

The wall thickness of the block won't even be that thick, they will never fit, that's over 1/2" oversize!!

If it's for a zetec turbo conversion you can use the vauxhall c20let or c20xe (?) pistons with an overbore to 2.1 - the early ones are supposedly forged and conveniently drop the CR down to about 8:1, but they are not as good as using decent forged pistons and will melt at about 1 bar boost. That's what I gathered from my ZT research anyway. I decided to just use a decompression plate until I could afford some proper pistons.

97mm bore? what the hell were they out of?! Think you'd find the pistons would overlap between the bores.... :-)
